The Better Buildings Partnership (“BBP”) launched an Acquisitions Sustainability Toolkit earlier this year. The toolkit is designed to be used by property investors to help them with their real estate investments. It is designed to be used both during the acquisition process as well as after purchase of a property. There are pdf and Excel versions of the checklist, which provide useful reminders about sustainability issues for your property investments. As the BBP states, sustainability is an issue for risk management, protecting the value of your property investments. It is also part of value creation so that you can improve the value of your investments through, for example, increased rental values and slower rates of depreciation.
